My sculptural practice mainly concerns the work of clay. At the core of my approach are the concepts of original creation, transformation, and regeneration, all of which are inherent in clay, the raw material of life. The strength and fragility of the organisms that we are and that surround us are both depicted in my works, which also are a tribute to the richness and beauty of the living world, much like metaphors of the biological cycle.<\/p>\n
From microscopic to macroscopic, I question the origin, nature and purpose of life. Thus, the cell, the individual, the group, the species or even the landscape are represented in a certain distortion of scale through which I question the relationship of humans with nature as well as their place in planetary ecosystems. . .<\/p>\n
I mark the surfaces with grooves, carvings and holes that I\u00a0make by molding, engraving and stamping into the clay earth. By using these organic textures, I create a plastic vocabulary that both suggests and expresses how matter and body will inevitably change over time.<\/p>\n
In my pictorial work, I use drawing and photomontage to create images that mix the organic chaos and geometric symmetry found in nature.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
